A Beauty Refined

What Does It Take to Reveal the True Beauty of a Hidden Gem?9780764213250

Phoebe Von Bergen, the daughter of a German count, is excited to visit America for the first time while her father purchases sapphires in Helena, Montana. Little does she know, however, that her father’s intentions–both for her and the gemstones–are not what she thinks.

Ian Harper, a lapidary working in Helena, finds the dignified young woman staying at the Broadwater Hotel more than a little intriguing. Yet the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes that her family story is based on a lie–a lie she has no knowledge of. And Ian believes he knows the only path that will lead her to freedom.

Meeting Ian has changed everything for Phoebe, and she begins to consider staying in America, regardless of her father’s plans. But she may not be prepared for the unexpected danger that results when her family’s deception begins to unravel.

Review:

Once again I find Tracie Peterson’s stories intriguing, fun and lighthearted. Her characters have depth but yet feel real. Even though it’s the second book in the Sapphire Brides series it can easily be read as a stand alone novel.

Phoebe and Ian have to overcome some of Phoebe’s family challenges and hope that they make it through to the end. There are some shocking aspects to it but like other stories where would it go if not for some challenges to go through?

The characters are refreshing and the stories are not weighed down by a bunch of long drawn out history. Mrs. Peterson knows how to get to the point of the story while giving you everything you need to know to enjoy the journey.

This is a great weekend read. I definitely recommend it and you can check out my review of the first of the Sapphire Brides stories “A Treasure Concealed“.
