Do Not Dwell on the Past

This time of the year everyone is writing about New Year’s goals and resolutions. We all look forward to a fresh start. However, we must remember that to get a fresh start we must let go of the past. Isaiah 43:18 (NIV) says “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” I love how the Message Bible puts it “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history.”

When we continue to dwell on our “old history” no matter how good our intentions are to change and do better we will hinder that because we are constantly thinking about what happened in the past. When you are focused on the past you can not move forward because you are constantly looking behind you instead of looking in front of you.

You must look forward in order to move

  1. I’m looking forward. The past is the past. We must let go of the past in order to grab a hold of the future. Thanks for the gentle reminder. #bloggercaregroup
