740834: First Christmas Ever (Saddle Stitch) First Christmas Ever (Saddle Stitch)
By ZondervanThis retelling of the Christmas story is perfect for little hearts and is just the right size for little hands. Using the vibrant and popular artwork of Dennis Jones, The First Christmas Ever will captivate young readers as they discover the story of Jesus’ birth.

This is a really cute retelling of the Christmas story. There are so many to choose from this time 740834of year. However, the illustrations in this one are really cute and there are a few funny things about the art style (I love seeing how different artists portray similar scenes, after all I live in a house full of artists). For one thing Geek Girl pointed out to me that in several images the characters look cross eyed. And the expressions on the faces of the inn keepers as they are turning Joseph away are hilarious. Of course I love the legs of the dog. He is so pudgy and his legs are super skinny.  Of course we giggled about that a little but over all the pictures are cute and the story never gets old. The art really has that comic strip kind of feel to it which all kids love. This book would definitely make a great stocking stuffer for your kids this Christmas. I would recommend this for your younger children around 4 to 8 years old.
