|Mark of Distinction, Price of Privilege Series #2
By Jessica Dotta / Tyndale HouseThrust into society as the Emerald Heiress, Julia is the toast of London, a celebrated curiosity. But in reality she’s trapped between the clutches of two powerful men. Aided only by a gentleman whose intentions she prays she can trust, Julia must finally take control of her own fate-but outwitting one’s foe rarely goes according to plan.
Mark of Distinction picked up exactly where Born of Persuasion left off. Julia, having escaped the clutches of Mr. Macy, is seeking protection from the man she discovered is her father. However, there is so many twists and turns to the story Julia wonders if she just exchanged one gilded cage for another. As the story continues to unfold, Julia finds her atheistic beliefs being tested. As she finally surrenders to God she wonders if her future will get any better than what it is.
Jessica Dotta draws you slowly into the story so as to keep you enthralled with what is going to happen next. I have to say that so far this one is my favorite in the trilogy as there is much more to the story than anyone ever realizes. Since this is a trilogy I am curious as to what might happen in the next book and where this story will end up. Ms. Dotta has a very vivid imagination and her writing is very similar to Jane Austen or Charlotte Bronte.
This book is not a quick read, although I could barely take my eyes out of it. I wanted to just sit and read until it was done. It was definitely that good. I must admit that I am going to have a hard time waiting until next spring to get my hands on book 3 of the Price of Privilege Trilogy which is entitled The Price of Privilege. But alas just like all of you I must wait. I guess I will have to find some other characters to keep me company.
