The girls and I were so excited to get the opportunity to try out Math Rider for review. The website says:
MathRider combines fun math game play with a highly sophisticated question engine that adapts to your child. The game propels your child to mastery of all four math operations using numbers 0 to 12 in record time.
This game is priced at $47 as an instant download and that includes free software updates for life. Not a bad deal, if I do say so myself. It can be used on both Windows or MAC OSX. It has cute illustrations and story to give your child a goal to go after. It covers all four basic Math operations addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It’s geared for kids in 2nd to 6th grades but my 7th grader was also able to use it for review on her math operations.
The concept is that you ride a horse in search of something and you have to answer a math question in order to avoid the hurdles that come up in your path. The quicker you answer the faster you go. The object is to find a medicine that will help cure your mother who is sick. Everything in this game has to do with math including the names of the land and characters. It’s really a neat concept.
I think its cute, my older girls zoomed right through it and my younger one is using it to help increase her knowledge of math operations. My 2nd grader would get frustrated that she was not as fast as her sisters but that comes with time and practice. My 6th grader loved the concept and since Math comes easier for her found it very easy. My 7th grader enjoyed refreshing herself and found that this is a more fun way to do it than math drills. It’s definitely a nice break from the norm.
Thank you to Math Rider for allowing us to try this game. You’ve done a great job researching and making it fun that even mom wanted to play.
