Newtown, CT

I’ve waited for a while to write about this subject. One, because its so emotional still and two, because pretty much everyone has said basically the same things that I feel. It was a horrific tragedy and my heart goes out to the families that lost someone that day. It is especially hard because my “baby” is the same age as many of the children that were killed. I can’t even begin to imagine what my life would be like without her. She is so much fun and has a seriously funny personality.

Here in a little less than a week the parents of those precious little ones will be attempting to celebrate Christmas which is going to be a very hard day for them. My heart hurts for the mom’s and dad’s that will be missing the laughter and excitement of those beautiful little people. My heart goes out to the families that lost the 6 adult family members and will not see their smiling faces or have conversations with them at their family gatherings. I pray for those families every time I think about them.

Of course as life goes on for the rest of us we hear on the news of so many blaming an inanimate object for doing that horrible deed. When really the biggest need in this country right now is for us to turn back to God. We live in a fallen world and no amount of legislation will change that. Bad things are going to happen because there is sin in the world. However, blaming a gun is not the answer. We don’t blame knives when people have been stabbed, we don’t blame the car when a drunk driver hits someone. So why in the world should we blame a gun for someone (a person) pulling the trigger.  (ok I’m off my gun rant)

Just remember that the families of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting needs our love and prayers right now. Let’s remember to keep them in our prayers as we celebrate Christmas with our families.
